Fashion Explosion a great hit
Miss Jamaica World 2007, Yendi Phillips, saw another of
her dreams come true on Sunday night with the
successful staging of her celebrity fashion show,'Fashion
Xplosion' at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
Featuring finalists from this year's staging of the
Miss Jamaica World competition and past holders of the title,
including Regina Beavers, Miss Jamaica World 2001,
'Fashion Xplosion' was staged to fulfill one of Phillips'
coronation promises, aiding the victims of Hurricane Dean.
Tickets went for $1500 each, with patrons - including
entertainers Sean Paul and Wayne Marshall - getting the
chance to see creations from various designers on the runway
as well as the groups To-Isis and Brick & Lace. Male models
were met with screams every time they took the runway, with
the screams getting louder the less they wore. The four-man
group To-Isis was definitely dressed for the occasion, nattily
decked out in black suits as they serenaded the audience with
songs such as Ghetto Pain and a cover of Bryan Adams'
Heaven - changing the lyrics to "Yendi you're all that I want".
They were joined by Monty Morris, from the band C-Sharp, on
guitar for an original, Time Waits For No One before Phillips
reappeared in a shimmering oriental-style blue gown slit knee
high to hand out certificates of appreciation to various sponsors
and MC Paula-Ann Porter reiterated that everyone involved either
donated their time or were working at cost before it was back to
the fashion show.
