JAH CURE FREE

Jah Cure is free... after his first steps outside the prison
walls Jah Cure looked up at the wide open heavens. Giving
thanks to the almighty for freedom was the first action on
the outside and the next was to greet his mother and family.

A press conference was called on Saturday night at
New Kingston’s Hilton Hotel. The Jonkoonoo Lounge was
decorated very tastefully and had a sense of purity. After being
incarcerated for the past 8 years and 3 months all he craved was
the taste of fruit.

For youth, Jah Cure's message was straight forward. He said,
"Stay focused - no need to go down certain roads whether
purposefully or not. Be conscious - don't try certain things – stay
away from certain things."

Big Shot Jamaican - Humor

Joe grew up in Jamaica, then moved away to
attend college and law school.

He decided to come back to Jamaica because
he felt he could be a Big Shot at home. He
really wanted to impress everyone. So he
returned and opened his new law office in
New Kingston.

The first day, he saw a man coming up the
passageway. He decided to make a big impression
on this potential client when he arrived. As the
man came to the door Joe picked up the phone.
He motioned the man in, all the while talking. "No.
Absolutely not. You tell those clowns in New York
that I won't settle this case for less than one million.
Yes, the Appeals Court has agreed to hear that case
next week. I'll be handling the primary argument
and the other members of my team will provide
support. Okay, tell the DA that I'll meet with him
next week to discuss the details."

The "conversation" went on for almost five minutes.
All the while the man sat patiently as Joe rattled off
instructions. Finally, Joe put down the phone and
turned to the man, "I'm sorry for the delay but as
you can see, I'm very busy. What can I do for you?"
The man replied, "I'm from Cable & Wireless, the
telephone company, I come to hook up your phone."

ACKEE linked to Prostate Cancer

(sourced from HealthDay News ).
Dietary Fatty Acids Linked to Prostate Cancer
Study of Jamaicans suggests that diet rich in
linoleic acid is prostate cancer risk factor.

Jan. 24, 2007
A diet rich in omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty
acids may be associated with a higher risk of
prostate cancer, and could explain why Jamaica
has the world's highest incidence of the disease,
according to study findings published in the January
issue of the Journal of Urology.

Charles B. Brendler, M.D., of the University of
Chicago, and colleagues conducted a study of 148
men in Kingston, Jamaica, who were tested for the
presence of prostate-specific antigen. Biopsies were
performed on the 54 men with 2.6 ng/mL or more
of the antigen, of whom 24 had prostate cancer.

Erythrocyte membrane polyunsaturated fatty acid
levels were also analyzed, revealing a positive correlation
between tumor volume and the linoleic
acid-to-docosahexaenoic acid (omega-3) ratio. There was
also a positive correlation between the tumor Gleason
score and linoleic acid levels.

The authors note that the Jamaican diet includes the widely
consumed ackee fruit, which is rich in omega-6
polyunsaturated fatty acid linoleic acid, and also that the
country's leading cause of death is prostate cancer. "The
positive correlations between linoleic acid and Gleason
score, and the linoleic acid-to-docosahexaenoic acid ratio
and tumor volume support studies showing that omega-6
polyunsaturated fatty acids stimulate and omega-3
polyunsaturated fatty acids inhibit prostate cancer growth,"
they conclude.

Reggae in Humboldt County

In continuing a tradition that began in
Humboldt County some 24 years ago the
Reggae Rising Festival is ready to roll in 2007.
On August 3, 4 and 5, reggae's finest musicians
are set to deliver loads of positive vibes in one
of the world's most pristine atmospheres on
California's northern coast.

This first edition of Reggae Rising Music Festival
will be held at the Dimmick Ranch and French's Camp
in Piercy, California - located 200 miles north of
San Francisco. As the otherwise tranquil and rural area
prepares to have its "river banks overflow with reggae
music," Carol Bruno, head huncho at People Productions
is bubbling with excitement.

Working with a dedicated group, many of whom were
part of the original movement to launch an annual reggae
festival in that area, Bruno is confident that this inaugural
year will be one to be remembered. The lineup is amazing,
boasting top artistes like: Sly & Robbie, Horace Andy,
Ziggy Marley, Morgan Heritage, Stephen Marley, Collie Budz,
Ritchie Stephens, Freddie McGregor and a host more.

Bounty Killer and Ninja Man to give peace a chance at Reggae Carifest 2007

Anticipation is high for Reggae Carifest 2007,
with the feuding Dancehall deejays the
'Warlord' Bounty Killer and the
'Don Gorgon' Ninja Man are set to share the
stage as headliners on August 25th at Randall's
Island in New York. This will mark Ninja Man's
first U.S. performance in 15 years. The two deejays
and their entourages recent had a physical
confrontation in Trinidad.

The Dancehall community has been buzzing with
rumors of a stage 'clash' between the two warring
deejays. The Carifest promoters Team Legendary
are fighting rumors that the two will face-off at
the concert.

"Our theme this year is 'Coming full Circle, Give
Peace a Chance,'" states D'Niscio Brooks of Team
Legendary. "We are not promoting any clashing, this
is all about promoting peace and love, between the
artists, between the patrons, and just in general-peace,
love, and music."

Terrorists - Humor

RJR reports that a cell of 4 terrorists has been
operating at the Central Police lock up. Police
advised earlier today that 3 of the 4 have been
detained.

The Police Spokesman stated that the terrorists
Bin Sleepin, Bin Drinkin and Bin Fightin have been
arrested on immigration issues. The Police advise
further that they can find no one fitting the
description of the fourth cell member, Bin Workin,
in the area. Police are confident that anyone who
looks like Bin Workin will be very easy to spot in
the community.
